AtlanChamber (SPEL Chamber) FAQ

The AtlanChamber system is designed with an open chamber layout that enhances pollutant removal and groundwater recharge. The AtlanChamber is more cost-effective and requires less maintenance than alternative onsite detention tanks, underground tanks and OSD systems. It also replicates pre-construction hydrology and utilises a high-density polypropylene composition for structural strength.

Stormwater retention systems (e.g., retention tanks) are designed to hold water permanently or for long periods. This water is often reused on site for purposes like flushing toilets and watering gardens.

Stormwater detention systems (e.g., onsite detention tanks) are designed to temporarily store excess runoff during storm events. Once the storm passes, these systems gradually release the stored water into the stormwater drainage system to prevent overwhelming the infrastructure and causing flooding. The primary goal is to control the rate of runoff rather than retaining the water long-term.

AtlanChamber systems are constructed using injection-moulded polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Both materials are chosen for their structural strength and durability, ensuring a long-lasting solution for stormwater management.
Yes, AtlanChamber underground detention tanks are specifically engineered for versatility and can be installed in tight footprints. Their robust elliptical arch design allows for effective implementation even in limited spaces, making it ideal for various applications, from shopping centre car parks to recreational grounds.
The AtlanChamber system is designed to be low-maintenance. Routine inspections to check for blockages, sediment buildup, and overall system performance are recommended. The ease of these maintenance procedures contributes to the AtlanChamber’s cost-effectiveness throughout the lifespan of the asset.
Atlan provides unwavering customer service, including design assistance for both new projects,  existing developments, and retrofits. Our team of experts is available to help ensure that your installation meets engineering requirements, environmental compliance and site specifications.

MUSIC (Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation) modelling helps optimise urban stormwater systems. MUSIC models for the AtlanChamber are available for various councils and regions across Australia.
