The Atlan Vortceptor® is a SQIDEP-verified Gross Pollutant Trap (GPT) that uses hydrodynamic vortex separation and a non-blocking screen system to remove pollutants from stormwater runoff before they reach waterways.

The Vortceptor® is a primary stormwater treatment device that is often deployed as part of a treatment train, where it can work in unison with other stormwater assets such as tertiary filtration (AtlanFilter), Floating Wetlands, and WSUD systems.

Designed to screen stormwater pollutants and allow them to settle in a central chamber, the Vortceptor® is easy to maintain and accessible from surface level.

The Vortceptor® combines vortex separation technology with a self-cleaning screen to capture gross pollutants, sediment, suspended solids, oil, and grease. It is a high-capacity GPT available in online and offline primary stormwater treatment configurations, with a range of flow rates to deliver hydraulic performance during storm events.

As a primary treatment device, the Vortceptor® is particularly valuable where you want to capture sediment and gross pollutants early in the treatment train or reduce pollutant loads reaching downstream treatment assets, drainage, or receiving waterways.

The system is designed to capture litter, gross pollutants, sediment, silt, total suspended solids (TSS), nutrients, oil, and grease from urban stormwater runoff.

Common pollutants in urban catchments include cigarette butts, Styrofoam, food packaging, plastics, and organic waste. Removing these at the source helps protect downstream lakes, rivers, and seas.

Unlike many conventional GPTs, the Vortceptor® incorporates a non-blocking screen and hydrodynamic separator design that helps prevent screen blinding while delivering high pollutant removal performance. 

The Vortceptor® is suitable for residential developments, industrial estates, commercial precincts, recreational facilities, shopping centres, beaches, parks, and urban stormwater networks.  

Yes. The Vortceptor® can be supplied in both inline and offline configurations to suit site constraints, hydraulic requirements, and project objectives.  

Routine inspections and periodic removal of accumulated pollutants are recommended. The Vortceptor is accessed directly from site surface, and maintenance requirements include routine inspection which allows technicians to assess site health, device components, accumulated pollutants, access, and safety. 

If left unmanaged, sediment and pollutant loads can impact hydraulic performance. The sediment and pollutant depth should be monitored, and periodically the Vortceptor should be emptied by a vacuum truck – which is scheduled according to catchment pollutant loadings and the size of the device.
