StormSack

ON-SITE GROSS POLLUTANT TRAP SYSTEM

The Atlan StormSack filtration solutions are highly engineered water quality devices that are deployed directly in the stormwater system to capture contaminants close to the surface for ease of maintenance. Easily retrofitted into new or existing structures, Atlan StormSack filtration technology is a decentralised approach to stormwater treatment that essentially re-purposes traditional site infrastructure and customises it to meet specific site water quality goals.

From an operations perspective, catch basins with Atlan StormSack filters are also easier and quicker to clean out because pollutants are trapped just under the grate.

StormSack

Features & Benefits

Efficient At-Source Gross Pollutant Capture

Designed to capture gross pollutants, sediment, litter, and oil and grease effectively within storm drains.

Engineered for Water Quality

Provides a decentralized stormwater treatment approach, aligning with LID (Low Impact Development) criteria for sustainable water management.

Retrofit Capability

Easily integrates into new or existing stormwater infrastructure, repurposing traditional systems to meet specific site water quality goals.

Adjustable Design

Features a typical adjustable frame range of 127mm and requires a minimum clearance of 50mm for optimal installation. Customise to suit your pit size.

Standard sizes include
- 450x450mm
- 600x600mm
- 900x600mm
- 900x900mm
- Custom sizes (i.e. 1200x900mm) can be manufactured on short lead times.

Ease of Maintenance

Pollutants are trapped just under the grate, making cleaning faster and simpler with conventional vacuum suction equipment.

Atlan StormSack (Formerly SPEL StormSack) FAQ

The StormSack is a filtration solution designed for stormwater systems to capture contaminants close to the surface. It is engineered for easy maintenance and can be retrofitted into new or existing structures.
The StormSack uses a filtration bag housed within an ultra-durable aluminium frame. Pollutants are captured just under the grate, making maintenance quick and efficient using conventional vacuum suction equipment.
  • Maintenance: Can be cleaned with conventional vacuum suction equipment.
  • Frame: Ultra-durable aluminium frame available in four sizes.
  • Installation: Quick and easy to install.
  • Cost-Efficiency: Efficient in capturing gross pollutants.
  • Customisation: Adjusts to fit custom pit sizes.
  • Construction: Features a black poly surround, reinforced bag, and aluminium support angles.

The StormSack is suitable for a range of applications, including:

  • Council storm drain retrofits
  • Commercial, retail, and residential areas
  • Litter-prone urban areas
  • Scrap metal, solid waste, and oil storage
  • As part of a treatment train
  • Construction sediment control
Yes, the StormSack is designed to be easily retrofitted into both new and existing stormwater infrastructure.
MUSIC (Model for Urban Stormwater Improvement Conceptualisation) modelling is a tool used for urban stormwater improvement. MUSIC models for the StormSack are available for various councils and regions throughout Australia and can be downloaded from our website.
Maintenance frequency depends on the level of pollutants and site conditions. However, the design of the StormSack makes it easier and quicker for service technicians to clean than alternative on-site gross pollutant trap systems (GPTs).
