Ampol Eastern Creek: Stormwater Solutions with Flowceptor & Tankstor

Bordering the Sydney Motorsport Park and located along the bustling transport corridor of Sydney’s M4 motorway, a redevelopment of Ampol’s twin Eastern Creek service stations is underway, which will feature newly built convenience stores, fast food restaurants, and a range of facilities, including truck-friendly areas and EV charging stations.

We believe clean waterways are a right, not a privilege. Compliant hydrocarbon management solutions are imperative for sustainable development on high-risk sites and service station forecourts.

With our tanks delivered to the site with vibrant artwork, including a lobster, whale, and octopus, these bespoke murals symbolise the role of stormwater treatment in protecting local ecosystems and downstream marine and riverine environments.

Stormwater Solutions for Treatment & Harvesting

The long-term vision for the two new fuel sites includes stormwater infrastructure for high and medium risk spill containment and rainwater harvesting. Each side of the site features a four-device configuration: one Flowceptor, three TankStors, and an associated CPS oil separator.

This asset combination treats incoming flows for a range of pollutants and enables the harvesting of stormwater for on-site applications such as irrigation, gardening, and vehicle wash bays. Retaining rainwater will reduce reliance on the traditional water network, improve site sustainability and reduce water bills.

Designed for low to medium-risk catchments, each Flowceptor will remove hydrocarbons, gross pollutants, and sediment from service station forecourts and car park areas. These devices help ensure enhanced water quality outcomes and provide guaranteed spill containment for the wider car park and forecourt areas.

Each TankStor will provide 110,000 litres of storage with a total of 660,000 litres split across both installations. TankStor’s benefits in rainwater, chemical storage, and stormwater harvesting applications include ease of on-site handling, chemical inertness and corrosion resistance.

Atlan Stormwater’s FRP (fibreglass reinforced polymer) range is fabricated locally at our fibreglass manufacturing facilities. Offering enhanced sustainability and extended service life, these assets feature 100-year design life and reduced embodied carbon compared to concrete alternatives.

Underground installation maximises developable space, increases lot yield and ensures seamless development with more space for car parks and traffic flow. The modular design of each device enables faster installation, helping to meet project timelines with minimal site disruption.

Ensuring Joy in Water for future generations, these generational assets were designed, engineered, and installed by Atlan Stormwater to protect local waterways. Inspired by local wildlife, this project serves as a visual connection to the environments we seek to protect by stopping pollution at the source in our urban catchments.
