Are OSD tanks compatible with stormwater treatment?

Yes, stormwater detention assets are compatible with stormwater treatment assets to create solutions that effectively manage both water quality and water quantity.

Surface runoff is the rainfall that runs off the ground because the land is unable to soak it during storm events. On-site Stormwater Detention (OSD tanks) manage this volume of water and provide a temporary storage buffer to prevent local flooding.

Urban runoff can be a major source of water pollution. As water runs along the surfaces of our cities, it conveys a wide variety of pollutants into receiving waterways and drainage, including litter, hydrocarbons, fertiliser, plastic pollution, and chemicals.

Our range of OSD tanks is fully compatible with our treatment range and can be combined with primary treatment solutions such as Ecoceptor, Vortceptor, and StormSack.

Our precast concrete detention tanks are designed to be configured with internally installed tertiary treatment, such as AtlanFilter, through the incorporation of filter bays and weir walls. These precast solutions include AtlanVault and MegaVault.

Incorporating stormwater treatment assets in combination with OSD solutions ensures that we capture stormwater pollution at the source in our urban catchments. Stopping its conveyance downstream, water quality devices support sustainable development and protect our aquatic environments.

By managing water quality, the pollutant loads entering detention infrastructure can be controlled. This is beneficial to the service life of these systems, lowering their maintenance requirements and operational costs.
