We are pleased to announce that Atlan FlowGuard has received Conditional Use Level Designation (CULD) through the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Technology Assessment Protocol – Ecology (TAPE) program for the assessment of stormwater treatment devices.
Atlan Stormwater’s third device to be listed under the framework, FlowGuard joins the Washington State Department of Ecology’s peer-reviewed designation of AtlanFilter (CULD and PULD) and FlowFilter (CULD). FlowGuard has received designation for the following treatment categories:
This latest designation builds upon Atlan’s ongoing investment in research, development, and performance testing, supporting best-practice stormwater management and expanding our portfolio of internationally recognised stormwater treatment technologies.
The TAPE program is one of America’s leading protocols for evaluating stormwater treatment devices, providing a rigorous, peer-reviewed framework for assessing treatment performance.
This designation provides greater transparency, trust, and confidence through independent third-party assessment under one of America’s most prominent stormwater evaluation frameworks. It gives engineers, specifiers, and asset owners greater confidence when selecting FlowGuard, while demonstrating the device’s proven performance for the treatment of suspended solids and phosphorus.
Tertiary Stormwater Treatment for Strip Drains & Stormwater Pits
FlowGuard is designed for flexible at-source installation within channel drains or stormwater pits, integrating with existing drainage infrastructure without requiring site-specific design modifications. This latest TAPE designation complements FlowGuard’s existing verification through Stormwater Australia’s SQIDEP framework.
The device’s SQIDEP-verified pollutant removal efficiencies include 100% Gross Pollutants, 88% Total Suspended Solids, 69% Total Phosphorus, and 67% Total Nitrogen.
Ideal for scenarios where stormwater runoff may otherwise bypass treatment, FlowGuard’s design enables these catchments to be modelled in systems such as MUSIC, providing a decentralised treatment solution for car parks, roof outlets, driveways, and forecourts.
Installed seamlessly within existing stormwater assets, such as pits and drains, FlowGuard delivers high-performance water quality treatment in retrofit applications. By repurposing existing infrastructure, it provides an effective solution for sites where LID (Low-Impact Development) and BMP (Best Management Practices) outcomes must be achieved within constrained footprints.
At Atlan, third-party testing forms a core part of our product development philosophy. Our commitment to independently verifying the performance of our stormwater treatment range supports best practice, promotes transparency, and helps project stakeholders select solutions that deliver measurable environmental outcomes while protecting our waterways.
We believe clean waterways are a right, not a privilege. Alongside our existing portfolio of independently verified technologies, FlowGuard’s latest TAPE designation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to transparent performance data, continual innovation, and delivering better stormwater outcomes.
